Pre-Register with Director of Program Planning and Evaluation Cathy Ainsworth

Participants often choose this program as first step on a new journey to surmount life challenges. By taking time to reflect upon and reframe experiences, women re-connect with their core strengths, values and a new sense of belonging.  While constructing a personal portfolio and participating in exercises led by up to four teachers, participants become motivated and determined to make positive life changes!

Tutorials  846-7083 

Pre-register with Tutoring & Literacy Lead Teacher Phyllis L’Esperance

This ongoing learning environment provides opportunities for 1:1 and small group tutoring sessions.   A tutoring participant can work on achieving her/his GED or Adult Diploma.  1:1 English Language acquisition tutorials are available as well as adult special education.  Learning needs are assessed and individualized support is provided to students wanting to advance their education and/or language skills.

Computer Skill-Building Workshops  846-7162 

Pre-register with Cathy Ainsworth

Each 1.5 hour FREE workshop is followed by an hour when participants can practice their new skills or seek additional help with computer literacy.  Topic areas for these workshops vary week-to-week so please call ahead to RSVP.

Circle

Mercy Program participants are invited to this weekly, ongoing time to come together in a supportive environment.  Reflect, find renewal and gain strength as we share and receive support in a circle.    Take this special time to feel part of a nurturing community and imagine new possibilities.

Book Club & Writing Group  846-7083

Pre-register with Tutoring & Literacy Lead Teacher Phyllis L’Esperance

This ongoing literacy program is affiliated with Vermont Reads, a state-wide one-book community reading opportunity with the Vermont Humanities Council.   Book group discussions and activities are followed by individual writing projects designed for all abilities.  Each year participants are invited (but not required) to share their writing pieces to be published in a compilation of writings from Mercy Connections.

Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’ By World ©AHA!  846-7294

Participants in this workgroup investigate their lives and community to learn how to build their resources.   By engaging in personal discussions and strategizing plans for achieving greater self sufficiency, participants move from THINKING about making a change to CREATING a plan for REACHING the goal of a stable, secure life.

This FREE workshop, offered in collaboration with CCV on their Winooski Campus, is designed to help you take a successful first step into college. Making the transition from where you are now into college might be an entirely new experience.  Take the Investigations workshop to learn how college could be a step toward building a better life for your and your family.  Even though you may be juggling the demands of life, attending the Investigations workshop could help you see college as a real possibility, a solution and a positive experience!
