Start Up

Taking your ideas from concept to reality

Next Course Begins January 26th - Apply TODAY!

Whether you’re moving on from our Getting Serious course or already have a business of your own and want to hone your management expertise, Start Up is designed to give you the skills to take the next step or take your business to a new level. This intensive, 15-week course functions like a mini-MBA, with a comprehensive curriculum taught by experienced instructors, visiting experts, guest lecturers and WSBP alumni. For more than just business theory, you’ll spend 110 hours completing a bullet-proof business plan, doing feasibility studies and getting immersed in the reality of the business world. The curriculum focuses on several broad areas:

Financial

You’ll learn to prepare net worth statements and personal budgets, develop financial needs assessments, prepare proforma statements, perform cash flow and break-even analyses, tax preparation, handling bookkeeping and spreadsheets.

Marketing

As markets and audiences become more and more fragmented, reaching them effectively and within budget requires serious marketing know-how. Topics you’ll learn include product pricing and promotion, advertising, social networking, customer relationship programs, competitive review, market and research analysis and more.

Business Management

Topics include creating short and long-term operating plans, goal setting and action planning, stress and time management, effective presentations, defining success and many others.

Tuition and Fees

The cost of the Start Up course is $2,035 which includes our course materials. The tuition will increase to $2195 in the fall of 2012. Please don’t let financial concerns keep you from applying because:

Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) non-degree grants pay our entire tuition for most lower income applicants. Complete your registration online (http://www.vsac.org) or call 1-888-307-8722 for assistance.  They will need a copy of your last year's tax returns and W-2's in order to process your online application. VSAC operates on a first come first serve basis and grants are awarded for the current academic year beginning July 1st.  It generally takes up to 3 weeks for applications to be processed.

Mercy Connections has scholarships available from KeyBank and the Sisters of Mercy. For scholarship consideration, please complete page 4 of the Start Up Application and mail in with a copy of your last year's tax return and W-2’s.

We offer a 4 - 6 month payment plan for whatever tuition balance students may owe.
