About Women’s Small Business Program

If you have an idea for a business and you have a dream, there is no time like the present. Do it now, and we can help!

For over 30 years, The Women’s Small Business Program has worked to empower women by providing entrepreneurial education and coaching as they navigate the world of self-employment.

A pioneer in entrepreneurial education for women, the Women’s Small Business Program was established in 1989 at the former Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont. It is Mercy Connections’ first and signature program and remains the only community-based program in Vermont focused on launching women-owned and operated businesses.

The overarching goal of the WSBP is to inspire and educate women as they pursue entrepreneurship as a path to greater financial stability for themselves and their families. Our program provides women-identifying individuals with the knowledge and support needed to develop, launch, grow and sustain their entrepreneurial ventures.

We offer high-quality courses that aim to build competence and confidence in entrepreneurship. Our trademark course, Start Up, is a rigorous, semester-long business planning intensive taught in a small-group format led by skilled instructors who are also successful women entrepreneurs.

Alumnae from WSBP continue to be significant contributors to the local business landscape and Vermont economy.
