What’s Best for the Children of Vermonters With Opioid-Use Disorder?

Ashley Messier with her oldest daughter - JAMES BUCK

We are grateful to Ashley for sharing her incredible story in the Seven Days “Hooked” series. http://ow.ly/qWgU50x9cTw

We at Mercy Connections first met Ashley when she was incarcerated and became a mentee in our mentoring program.

Her journey is similar to other Mercy Connections’ participants. The intersection of poverty, substance-use disorders, and incarceration disrupts lives and families.

Ashley, now a leading social justice advocate and trained mentor, attributes her recovery to “[A] few people who saw that I still had worth and value in this world.”
