Mercy Connections to Honor Green Mountain Power President & CEO Mari McClure at May Event

Mercy Connections proudly announces Mari McClure as the recipient of its 2024 Catherine McAuley Award. The award will be presented at the nonprofit’s annual Power of Connection event Tuesday, May 7th at Hula in Burlington, Vermont.

Mercy Connections is pleased to announce Mari McClure as the recipient of its 2024 Catherine McAuley Award. Each year, Mercy Connections’ Board of Directors selects a person who exemplifies community leadership and service in the example of Catherine McAuley, a 19th century leader dedicated to social justice and founder of the Sisters of Mercy. McClure is the President and CEO of Green Mountain Power and is an inspiring team leader committed to helping Vermont.

The award will be presented at the nonprofit’s annual “Power of Connection” event on Tuesday, May 7, at Hula in Burlington.

"I am delighted that the Mercy Connections Board has selected Mari for this distinguished award. She is a visionary and a leader who brings out the best in teams to deliver results for Vermonters,” said Lisa Falcone, Executive Director of Mercy Connections.

McClure joined Green Mountain Power in 2010 and stepped into the position as President and CEO in 2020 after a decade of leadership within the organization. McClure has been featured in Time Magazine and the New York Times for groundbreaking work to transform the electric grid to a resilient and sustainable system for all communities across the state. She served as Chair of the Governor’s Pandemic Employer and Technical Support Team and was named one of Business Insider’s Top 100 People Transforming Business in 2021 in the sustainability category. McClure has also been recognized for her innovative leadership as a Top 100 Women Impact Leader for 2021 by Real Leaders Magazine, and top 20 C-Suite Sustainability Champion by GreenBiz in 2020. She has a background in athletics and played and coached women’s basketball for many years.

“I am inspired by Mercy Connections, and very honored and humbled to be part of this important event and legacy. Their work changes lives and is part of building a thriving Vermont for all,” McClure said.

“Power of Connection: Stories of Courage and Hope” is the nonprofit’s largest fundraising event. It is known for its storytelling, with Mercy Connections participants sharing personal stories of strength, progress and belonging. Tickets for the event go on sale early March, and Mercy Connections is seeking event sponsors.
