Mercy Connections to Honor Erik Hoekstra

BURLINGTON - Mercy Connections is pleased to announce that Erik Hoekstra, Managing Partner of Redstone, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Catherine McAuley Community Award. Selected annually by the organization’s Board of Directors, the award honors an individual whose leadership and service reflects the spirit of Catherine McAuley, a pioneer in social justice and the inspiration for Mercy Connections’ mission.

“We are deeply grateful to honor Erik. He is a community gem dedicated to building a better, more inclusive Vermont. His character, understated leadership style, and commitment to the public good make him a perfect fit for this award,” said Lisa Falcone, ED at Mercy Connections.

The award will be presented at Mercy Connections’ annual fundraising celebration, Power of Connection: Celebrating 25 Years Together, on Tuesday, May 19, at Hula in Burlington. This milestone event marks the organization’s 25th anniversary serving the greater Burlington community and features powerful storytelling from participants whose lives have been transformed through Mercy Connections’ programs.

“I am truly honored to receive the Catherine McAuley Award,” said Hoekstra. “Mercy Connections’ commitment to empowering people and strengthening community through radical hospitality is deeply inspiring. It is humbling to be recognized alongside the many advocates who make this work possible.”
